The project “Empowering Language Teaching with Ethical AI-Enhanced Guidance” aims to equip pre-service and in-service language teachers with the skills and ethical awareness required for responsible and effective AI integration in language education. It responds to the increasing influence of artificial intelligence on teaching and learning by promoting digital resilience, ethical awareness, and innovative pedagogy across Europe.
Objectives:
The project seeks to:
- Build teachers’ AI literacy and ethical competencies through structured, research-based training.
- Foster responsible, transparent, and inclusive AI use in language classrooms.
- Support digital transformation and sustainability in teacher education by developing open-access learning tools.
- Strengthen cross-border collaboration among higher education institutions in Latvia, Türkiye, Spain, and Austria.
Implementation:
A 20-hour curriculum module on ethical AI in language teaching will be developed, supported by an AI-powered gamified toolkit and an open-access MOOC for scalable teacher training. The materials will be piloted with 200 pre-service teachers, refined through expert and user feedback, and adapted for integration into BA/MA teacher education programmes. Complementary activities include workshops, webinars, and summer schools to engage educators, researchers, and policymakers.
Results and Impact:
The project will deliver:
- A gamified toolkit for ethical AI teaching practice.
- An interactive, multilingual MOOC for AI training in education.
- A structured curriculum and implementation guide for institutional adoption.
By fostering AI literacy, ethical awareness, and pedagogical innovation, the project will empower teachers to navigate AI technologies confidently, ensuring a sustainable and ethically grounded digital transformation in language education.
